Yes, boys and girls, elves and trolls I am back!

I am sure all of you are aware that we suffered a major failure with our hosting company. Basically they were doing some maintenance and testing when the fire suppression system got accidentally set off. Long story short the server that had our data was damaged. Our hosting company did try to restore the data but was unable to. To my surprise and horror they dont do off site back ups.

What does this mean? Well our website went up in 2003 and was more or less unchanged. Now is a great opportunity to have some input from all of you...

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, you might have post them in this thread. All feedback is welcome. What you liked, what you didnt like about the board or the site and anything else you can think of.

We are long overdue for a revamp/upgrade of the site and boards. :)

Some thoughts regarding the site:

We could possibly use it better to display some of the relatively constant information that's in various places across the forum.

Things like DM Contact information, in game signs, general rules, the scope of the server, a guide for new players, a link to the wiki for game world information, game concepts like CDQs, rules or guidelines on roleplaying and prestige classes and the like, custom script override information (for example on spells like summons or continual flame), known bugs and issues possibly (for example the polymorph/shapeshift bug - better players find out about this BEFORE they start playing a druid whom they might eventually be unhappy with).

That's a lot, and whilst I can't offer much in the way of help in actually designing and coding the site, consider me a volunteer for any writing that needs doing :)

I didn't really see much of the site before it went down, unfortunately, so I can't really offer much in the way of input there. However, I do know my way around photoshop pretty well and I've made a few website designs for work in the past so if you want any help on the "let's make this PRETTY!" front, I'll be happy to help out :)

I was thinking along the same lines. Last time around I kinda through the website up and then we added things like maps and forums. This time around we are starting here and working to the website.

All very good ideas. A few might actually get implemented!

No worries. the design and coding part is covered already its the content we will need help. There is a very good chance you might end up doing some writing!

Fair enough. You can still add ideas that may or may not be your own

One thing I really liked on the temp forums was that it told you who'd been on in the last 24 hours, not just the last 5 minutes (although I notice that now that's 60 minutes on here! Hurray!). Thought that was really helpful in assuring you that you weren't the only person lurking around the place :D Anyway, no idea if that could be done on these forums, but it sure would be neat.

Get all the downloads for the module - links to CEP, and the Music files all into one section. Also a thread for people to link their own characters' avatars from the IGN vault so players can see how the other players see their characters rather than getting the generic "faceless wonder".

It seems we may have lost the work done on Factions.....

In the absence of FuArch I'll write up something re the Bloodpact when I have liberty to do so.

Currently the board shows who has been on in the last hour. Would everyone rather see who has been on in the last 24hrs?

Personally I would. I think it helps show activity better than the latest hour does, particularly amongst players you might rarely see due to time zone differences and the like. It's nice to know people you rarely get a chance to rp with are still about since it can be weeks without contact. :)
