Entry #11 Originally posted January 2007

The Journal flies open, its color changing rapidly as the shadows that are about gather and converge, revealing the journal's true nature....

"That Knight is daft! How could he have fallen so *EASILY* into my web? I suppose i have the fates to thank for that considering how wonderfully everything has fallen into place... The death of hannelore which i could have prevented but did not, Leoric's already ever present self hatred... but more importantly, the hatred he has for the Knight and visa versa has worked to my favor. Soon, very soon, i will have one of them out of my hair.

The question that comes now is which. I have no doubt that the knight will try to ..."purge" Leoric of his darkness... But which would be easier to manipulate...The knight, with all of his Zeal is a fool. I could manipulate him into most anything if it appeals to his self-righteous nature, and the fact that he holds absolute trust in me... *amusement spills from the page* ...means less questions. In the coming tide of battle, We would need a strong sword arm, even if that arm belongs to a mad man.

Leoric on the other hand....while very susceptible to corruption, has a suspicious nature, even going so far as to suspect me, and that simply will not do... his fighting ability is less than that of Christof, but his pragmatic, or even pessimistic mind is a cautious one... though if that even holds true now remains to be seen considering that there is still one harlot he wishes to save, and in his unbridled fury, im not sure if i can depend on him in that aspect...

No no, the knight will be handled, and Leoric will die. Should Christof lose however... I am not without excuse - After all, i am his kin, and we both believe the knight to be mad...and the fact that i am a brother in faith to Christof... *another wave of amusement*... would only mean that it is only natural that he would seek me out to tell me of his misgivings and so my lack of time to warn him... hmmm how twisted this web of darkness becomes...and how lost in the enjoyment of it do i become...

Below the Journal entry, a drawing is seen, of the bathhouse, and in colors, the ambiance dark, as if in candlelight, and the bath filled with the filth and blood of their trials, the blood over flowing from the bath itself and the decapitated body of Leoric barely above the blood, his head in Karthos' hand as if he were speaking to a hand puppet, and the rest of the group in chains along the wall being flogged by a misshapen sadist....

Final Entry, #12, Originally posted March 2007

*The leather bound book is quickly engulfed in shadows...the pages turning from that of normal writing paper to the skin of once living beings. The outer covering becomes that of blackened bone and the binding itself...well...one cannot tell...*

The time has come. I have dealt with this party's idiocy for the last time. I will move my plans ahead of schedule and sow the seeds of doubt within when the right moment presents itself, perhaps the others will follow...certainly my kinsman shall...*brief pause*...Leoric has made an invaluable ally in my undertakings, making sure that the suspicion was never cast on me but on the Knight.. I pray that his dark nature is not revealed before the next step of my plan.

A line drawn in blood stretches across the page

I wonder how long they'll blame themselves for the actions i have taken...*malevolent glee fills the page, giving it a stench of complete and utter evil* ...the butchering of Christof...sending that poor blind man out into the winter's grasp...Sending that weak and worthless noble at the garrison to his death...Allowing sweet little Hannelore to die... fracturing the party from within...ah and more importantly bringing Leoric over to darkness.

Such fools...they do not have what it takes to carry out their mission....Such pitiful deluded fools...

*The rest of the entry is etched out or covered in blood, though the black disc with a purple ring around it are clearly shown beneath it all.

But above it all, the only thing one can sense from this book of evil thoughts and desires is...uncertainty.*

As the final words fell from Piper's tongue like droplets of poison from an adder, Christof stepped forward without warning and booted the journal with a steel-shod foot. Tumbling end over end, the book slammed against the near wall and lay silent, covers now closed once more. A sullen and somehow smug light pulsed softly from its pages.

The room smelled vile, defiled, like the scourings of a chamber pot clinging to the air.

Piper began to wretch, falling to his knees and heaving relentlessly, even as he tried to wipe his hands repeatedly on his breeches as if he meant to rub the skin off where the book had touched him. After a few moments he stilled, face to the floor, trembling.

Like the still and sacred moments of a funeral when words seem crude and base things, no one uttered a sound. Whether their silence was for the dead left in their wake, the companion that had betrayed them, or the seemingly certain knowledge that their fellowship was hopelessly fractured, none could be sure.

All that remained certain was the lengthening of shadows, tendrils of darkness creeping slowly across a land of men that no longer seemed to have the means or will to resist; ebony fingers gently caressing, slowly constricting.

The shadows were cast long, the Shadows of the Ancients
.

All of our characters were excellent creations. There were some pretty great NPCs, too.

*sighs heavily*

One day we will resurrect them im sure. We have to. I dont think i could carry on living if i knew their souls were truly lost.

Gives me inspiration to write some more character thoughts down. :-)

Watch this space...well not this one..ive already written here...and here..there..i mean there <<<------------<<<
